Culinary and cultural pleasures

Even though Dordogne situated in the centre of Aquitaine with no access to the ocean it still has a number of attractive features. The place is a focal point for gourmets. Probably like nowhere else in France one is able to indulge culinary delights. Fois gras, duck produce, ham, nuts, cépe and wines are just some of the culinary riches to be enjoyed here. Best you buy some truffles at one of the markets and prepare some tagliatelle with them. Add some butter and garlic and your luxury dish is complete. Need some exercise after dinner? Then take a stroll up towards one of the numerous caves.  Next to the culinary offerings Dordogne has culturally a lot to offer. This includes for example the prehistoric cave drawing in the “Grotte de non Pair” which are at least 20.000 years old. Hike along the paths of our ancestors over winding paths in the groves and look forward to the sunset afterwards on the terrace of your holiday house with a glass of red wine.

    Op 5min. rijden ben je in het dorpje Cenac et Saint Julien waar je een supermarktje hebt, bakker en beenhouwer. Eveneens vlakbij heb je het dorpje Domme met een prachtig uitzicht. Op 10min. rijden ben je bij de rivier de Dordogne waar je plek genoeg hebt om langs de kant te genieten of een tochtje in een kajak kan maken. In Florimont Gaumier staat een panoramische uitkijktoren met 360° zicht en dit 100km ver. In de omgeving is er meerdere keren een wekelijkse markt met plaatselijke producten.

    Op 5 minuten afstand van Domme, een mooi oud ommuurd stadje met voldoende eetgelegenheden, maar geen supermarkt. Hiervoor even iets verder naar Cenac (een Sjopi op ca. 10 minuten) of Sarlat (zeer grote en mooie Carrefour aan noordzijde van de stad op ca. 18 minuten goed bereikbaar via nieuwe rondweg of een Casino op 15 minuten). Veel bezienswaardigheden in de directe omgeving. Veel leuke kleine weggetjes.
    Sarlat heeft echt een heel mooie oude binnenstad.
    Het huis ligt in het mooiste stukje van de Dordogne.
