De perfecte uitvalbasis om de sfeer van de 2e wereldoorlog op te snuiven. Pointe du hoc, Omaha beach, Bayeux is allemaal op minder dan een half uur rijden. Het ligt midden tussen Caen en Cherbourg. Beide ongeveer 50 minuten rijden. Verder is het ondanks de heel rustige ligging dicht bij het haventje en het centrum van grand maisy dus boodschappen doen is geen probleem. Echt een aanrader!

Dit hangt van persoonlijke behoefte af; voor ons was het ideaal: voldoende winkels, dichtbij prachtige stranden en dichtbij veel interessante sites mbt de 2e Wereldoorlog.

Grandcamp Maisy is een typisch Normandisch vissersdorpje en is centraal gelegen voor diegene die de landingsstranden wil bezoeken.
Er heeft dagelijks een vismarkt plaats.
Aan te bevelen is een bezoek aan Le Point Du Hoc, een bunkercomplex dat door de Us Rangers veroverd werd op D-Day.
