The mountainous world of the Alps in Tyrol, Carinthia, Vorarlberg, Steiermark and Salzburger Land offer ideal conditions for a great active holiday during the summer months. Whether hiking, cycling, climbing or extreme activities such as rafting and paragliding - the options are diverse. You can find brilliant conditions for a hiking holiday with stunning nature impressions for example in the National Park Hohe Tauern or in the idyllic Zillertal.
During the winter months the snowy slopes in the small and large ski regions such as Ski Amade, Ski Zillertal or Ötztalarena charm skiers as well as snowboarders.
Alongside the alpine world also Austrian cities attract many holidaymakers. The renowned capital Vienna, the historic centre of classical music impresses with its sights, famous coffee houses as well as celebrated opera houses and theatres. Salzburg, the city of Mozart, is especially known for its Salzburg Festival and the delicious Mozart balls. In 2003 the city Graz was the European Capital of Culture followed by the Upper Austrian city Linz in 2009.
