Vacation on the "Island of Beauty"

The French island of Corsica, also known as "Ile de Beauté", especially captivates with its impressive landscape. Mountainous hinterland with peaks of 2,500 metres and secluded bathing baths surrounded by the deep blue shimmering ocean characterise this Mediterranean island. Particularly in the Northeast and Southeast towns such as Porto-Vecchio, San Nicolao, Bastia or at Moriani-Plage await tourists with lovely beaches. However during the summer months it is overrun with lots of tourists. The western coast is more exclusive and secluded: Many hidden bays can be reached by foot. As the bathing temperatures are pleasant all the way through to October it is possible to rent beautiful holiday domiciles in the off-season for cheap prices.
But not only the island‘s coasts have a lot to offer. The landscape can be explored on a nice hiking or mountain bike tour and the many small villages offer an array of sights. Visit for example the main town of the island Ajaccio or the lovely port towns Porto-Vecchio, L’Île-Rousse and Calvi. Also a trip to the adjacent Sardinia should be on your itinerary that is just a short journey with the ship.

    Mit Auto ist der Ort gut. Nächster Supermarkt und Badeort mit Strandanimation und div. Gastronomie in 2 km Entfernung. Man ist auch total schnell in den Bergen; zur Südspitze braucht man allerdings 2,5 Std., zur Fähre nach Bastia - ca. 45 Min. Wir haben mehrere Ausflüge gemacht; nur die Westküste ist relativ umständlich zu erreichen.

    Für Einkäufe, Abendunterhaltung, Städtchenbummel etc. ist man eindeutig auf ein Auto angewiesen.
    Supermärkte sind mit dem Auto in fünf Minuten zu erreichen. In nächster Umgebung gibt es - zumindest direkt am Wasser - keine historisch gewachsenen Örtchen, wie man es z.B. aus Griechenlandurlauben, oder wohl auch auf der korsischen Westseite kennt. An der Durchfahrtsstraße konzentrieren sich z.B. in Folelli (nördlich) und Moriani Plage (südlich) Geschäfte (von der Apotheke bis zum Tierarzt, vom Souvenirshop bis zur Touristinfo) und Snackbars.
    In den Stichstraßen Richtung Strand findet man Restaurants.
    Insgesamt eher nützlich als charmant.

    De ligging van de huisjes is ideaal. Ze liggen vlak aan het strand, dicht bij de grote weg, waar je toch geen overlast van hebt in de huisjes. Aan de andere kant zijn er wandelwegen in de bergen bereikbaar. Poggio Mezzana ligt op een half uurtje rijden van Bastia en een uurtje van Corte. Op Corsica bestaan geen autostrades, dus als je naar Corte of Ajaccio wilt, moet je voldoende tijd incalculeren. Ajaccio duurt via de 'grote baan' ongeveer 2.5à 3uur en 't is maar 140 km. L'île Rousse is de moeite waard, Calvi is vooral zeer toeristisch.
