“When hearing of Tuscany most people think of olive groves, vineyards and alleys of cypresses which meander through gentle rolling hills. The predominant part of the region is hilly, the northwest can even be described as mountainous, the southwest on the other hand especially along the coast of the Maremma is rather low as it used to be marshland. Today it is partly protected as a natural reserve.”
