The Austrian mountain range does not only attract the masses in the winter months when countless skiers and snowboarders are on the pistes and slopes of the many Austrian ski regions. In the summer time with fresh mountain air you can go on a climb or hike and enjoy the splendid panorama of the Alps during a picnic. Up to the mountains!

Carinthia is Austria’s most southern state and next to mountains which are so typical for this Alpine Republic one other characteristic of the region are the seas. Wörthersee, Ossiacher See, Millstätter See and Weißensee are just the biggest and most well known ones. Due to the maritime climate the seas warm up quite quickly in the summer and provide pleasant bathing temperatures until early autumn. At most seas there are designated beaches including respective service facilities which guarantee a great beach vacation. Of course there are a range of water sport activities available. Those looking for more than just water activities will find a lot to do in the mountains and valleys spread out across Carinthia. Outdoor trend sport activities such as mountain biking, paragliding or rafting are particularly popular. Equally Carinthia is ideal for pleasant hikes or cycling tours that take you through the mountainous and hilly landscape. Don’t miss out on visiting Wildensteiner Waterfall. With 54 metres it is the highest free falling waterfalls in Europe. A trip here can be combined with a short hike from where you have one of the best panoramic positions. A further great day trip in this region is the high rope park in Greifenburg where the entire family can try out their mountaineer skills. The mining experience is a core focus at „Terra-Montana“ in Bleiberg-Nötsch. At this shut down mining shaft one is provided with interesting details on the history of mining („Terra Montana“) and the creation of earth („Terra Mystica“). Also a pit tour through the shafts is offered. That will not only be a highlight for children.

Salzburg, the city of Mozart, is especially known for its Salzburg Festival and the delicious Mozart balls. In 2003 the city Graz was the European Capital of Culture followed by the Upper Austrian city Linz in 2009.
