Greece’s diverse islands

Greece | Greece’s islands promise a special, diverse and unique holiday. The choice of idyllic islands seems sheer endless when thinking of Greece. Nobody really knows the exact number of islands as it is very difficult to distinguish between rocks which poke out of the sea and islands. There should be around 3,000 islands which one can explore. About 100 Greek islands are permanently inhabited. It is said that there is an island for anybody’s taste.

But how does one choose an island? That is difficult indeed. Whether the Ionian Islands such as Corfu, Kefalonia or Zakynthos or the many islands in the Aegean Sea such as Thasos, Rhodes, My-konos or the volcanic island Santorini – diversity, individuality and a great holiday at the seaside are guaranteed everywhere.

Crete which is about 160 kilometers away from the Greek mainland is not only the largest island but also the most popular Greek holiday destination. It is the cradle of Minoan culture.

Many islands can be conveniently reached by plane.  The others can be accessed by ferries or speedboats which guarantee that one can easily reach one’s destination. atraveo offers several hun-dred holiday homes on numerous Greek islands. Many of those are lavishly furnished and provide next to the usual amenities a private or shared pool as well as panoramic sea view. So why not take some time and click from island to island in order to find your ideal domicile?

    “Hardly tourist infrastructure, but nice restaurants around the market square and adequate grocery stores.”

    “Akti Salonikiou is located about 15 kilometers to Nikitas and about 8 kilometers to the Ag. (Seen from Thessaloniki) Nikolaos. It is a small place where you do only leave if you want to have no tourist bustle. The shows alone the beach: except the owners of the place is hardly anyone to see, compared to the beaches of the tourist centers there is almost a gaping void on the beach.
    The place is located far north of the eastern coast of Sithonia (middle finger of Halkidiki).
    Please for 2 reasons necessarily rent a car !!!
    1 .: no idea how to otherwise come to Akti Salonikiou;
    2 .: it is essential to make some trips (for more details below).

    There are shopping opportunities not in the village. A place further there is a mini-market, I recommend but un to do larger size einkufe Although in Nikitas: There is next to small shops in the city also has a large Greek supermarket left towards Thessaloniki seen (highly recommended and reasonably priced) and a Lidl (seen on the right in the direction of Thessaloniki) - both can not be overlooked by the main road and!
    Particularly in the Greek supermarket you get from fresh fruit to fish, meat and wine to bathing suits and everything you need Fersehern on holiday or may not need.

    Eat:
    In the resort hardly possibilities, but since one anyway has a car - no problem!
    There is virtually in every direction and in all taverns and restaurants (where we were) it is friendly towards tourists minded, nice and accommodating!

    Special Recommendation: In Nikitas on the main road in the direction of Thessaloniki, at the traffic lights, on the left a series Parti / Kontitorei (also recommendation !!!) located to the left towards the beach! The last restaurant on the right (in front of the beach, where the road makes a bend to the left) !! Very good food, very good and fresh quality, very good (though not quite cheap wine (- Recommendation: Chatau Porto Carras 2002 (€ 24, - / 0.75 l)), friendly service and a German-speaking Managing Extreme (a Greek , the 20 years in Austria (Mölltal) and Switzerland spent).

    Another must:
    The only beach ind Akti-Salonikiou! It is located at the southern end and is signposted!
    During the day shaded by large umbrellas, you can enjoy at night the relatively small but fine selection of cocktails under Strernenhimmel with pleasant subdued lighting, in moderenen Launges with a mix of reggae and holiday classics! Small Knabberein as Erdmüsse udgl. are provided for free. To end a wonderful place to start the day! On foot: about 10-15 minutes along the beach!”
