“Shopping facilities in the area available (Aldi and supermarket). Otherwise everything was very typical of the country. Some restaurants in the area. Up to Lisbon about half an hour by car (about 25 km). Quiet area. Without tourists, but even without seeing, only the long beautiful beach, which is in the main time but also well attended”

    “2½ points!
We lived just up and down, 7. hole on the golf course, which in itself was quite entertaining and fine. Unfortunately we were packed so tightly into the pine trees that we had no morning or evening sun on the otherwise nicely large terrace. We generally had the feeling of being left in a very fashionable (and exciting) golf / residential neighborhood. It is the ad was described as a resort was found to be a quite residential neighborhood.
Swimming pool turned out to belong to the golf consortium and demanded payment to use. Ca 7½ euros / person weekdays and 10 euros / person on weekends. Discount booklet can be purchased. 160 euros for 30 pcs We had understood that it was part of the lease, so this represents a large additional expense .. The beach was big and nice, but could not be reached on foot. It required a car and about 5-7 mins drive.
The place is not immediately recommendable for families.
Besides the one tætved neighboring restaurant there were no other options for eating out, without having to run after it.
Located in return in good distance from Lisbon. ½ hour drive. Thus, we had several evening and half-day trips to the interior of Lisbon, which clearly recommended.
The area is not child or young fit due manlende activity opportunities.
The place probably best suited for golf enthusiasts adults / families.
Obs. we olevede more nights dogs barking and whining from neighboring dogs and wild dogs.”

Serra da Arrábida
In addition to the capital city of Lisbon, with its many attractions, the surroundings, south-west of Lisbon, offer relaxation and nature.
Start your trip in Costa da Caparica, a popular destination of the Portuguese people. Here, the 25 kilometer-long white sand beaches extend until the nature reserve ...

of Serra da Arrabida.
Follow the white beach coast to the south where you can find many beach restaurants and beach bars. Here you can rent beach chairs and umbrellas. From the fishing village Fonte da Telha on, it gets more quiet. Walk along the deserted beaches until the Lagoa Azul, a haven for windsurfers and kitesurfers. Further south you will come to the Praia do Meco, a particularly popular destination for young Portuguese people. In the summer, concerts are held, but also the numerous small pubs in the Aldeia do Meco a worth to get in and eat.
Behind the Aldeia do Meco the nature reserve Serra da Arrabida begins, which extends up to Setubal.
In the middle lies the picturesque fishing village of Sesimbra, which is worth a visit in any case. Enjoy sitting there in one of the many really good restaurants with their fresh fish or shellfish dishes. Very early in the morning on the beach you can still assist to the auctions of the catches of local fishermen.
A round trip by car over the Serra da Arrabida offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. Drive in any case down to Portinho Arrábida. A beach with an upstream rocky island, where you can see idyllic fishing boats rocking in the water. In Portinho da Arrabida the Atlantic shows its peaceful side. Crystal clear water, no waves.
At the end of your round trip through the Serra da Arrabida you reach the town of Setubal. From here you can book a boat tour, for example, the ROUTE DOLPHINS, where you can see, if you are lucky, dolphins or the THREE BAYS TOUR, which lasts a whole day, lunch included.
Or take the car ferry to Troia, and ride the next 100 kilometers along the white sandy beaches towards the south.

Seafood and port wine – Portugal’s culinary delights

Portugal | Portugal has always lived with and from the sea. So don’t miss out on the delicious seafood that is served in one of the many restaurants and will turn your holiday in Portugal into a culinary highlight. Alternatively prepare a delicate maritime dish in the kitchen of your holiday home booked with atraveo. You will be able to get freshly caught fish at every harbour or larger market. Together with fresh vegetables and herbs from the market you can easily prepare a great meal which you can then enjoy on the terrace of your holiday house. Portugal’s national dish is stockfish. Though the dishes seem somewhat peculiar it can be worthwhile giving some a try. The Portuguese are said to know more than 1,000 different ways to prepare those air-dried fish (mainly cod) – so all tastes are catered for.

Not only fish – whether fresh or air-dried – but also the Portuguese wine is known all over the world. The many distinctive features of port wine are very complex with lay persons struggling to ascertain an overview. In most cases the house wine of restaurants or a bottle of Tawney or Colheita port will prove to be a good choice. By the way a good port can be a great present to take back for you loved ones not with you!
Where will you spend your next holiday in Portugal? Popular destination with atraveo customers are the southern coastal region of the Algarve, the western coastal areas Costa de Lisboa, Costa de Prata and Costa Verde as well as the flower island Madeira and Alentejo in the heart of Portugal.
