“Malcesine is a great place, we got in late October / early November only a few restaurants something to eat, but we really did not starve! Great, very good quality restaurants, beautiful, historic streets, good shopping, a beautiful harbor, very friendly people and no one is pushy.”

“There is plenty to do in Malcesine.
    Enough sports possibilities.
Shops, cafes, ice cream parlors and quite a few places to eat.
    We loved it.”

“Very good shopping available, good bus connections in the surrounding area, even to Verona and Venice possible. Many good restaurants! A castle can be visited. We were traveling as a couple without children (51 years). It was a very nice vacation !”

“The place Malsecine is great. There is a small supermarket in town and one
larger supermarket at tourist info / bus stop. There are many restaurants available. A large selection. There is something for every taste and budget. Mount Baldo is recommended by mountain railway. But when the weather is nice, there is a long wait to plan. Long lines in front of cash register and gondolas. A great tourist place to stroll, feel good and relax.”

"...an enchanting spectacle; I couldn't have missed it, and I was magnificently rewarded by such a vision." Goethe

Gathered around the Scaliger castle and the Captain's Palace is the old town, with it's little port, quaint squares and cobbled streets animated with shops, bars and typical restaurants, Malcesine conserves its long standing origins and its fascinating charm. The medieval village, the landscape and nature melt in symbiosis with art: many are the events and exhibitions that give further value to the cultural aspect of Malcesine.

Caressed by a constant temperate, healthy breeze, Malcesine gives emotional days of surf and sailing and magnificent walks in the hills and high mountains, passing from a rich vegetation of oleanders and olive trees, to a pure alpine landscape on the summit of Monte Baldo "Botanical Garden of Europe". During the winter, on reaching the Tratto Spino summit with the new cable car Malcesine - Monte Baldo, the ski slopes await guests who wish to enjoy themselves offering the possibility to downhill and alpine ski, snowboard, sledge or make excursions with snow shoes.

Malcesine offers an immense variation of opportunities for the sport loving tourist... sailing, windsurf, water ski, kite surf, diving, swimming, trekking, Nordic walking, mountain bike, parascending, climbing, alpine ski, snowboard and snowshoes.

"Monte Baldo... that summit
was equal to a privileged arm chair at a theatre
to assist a spectacle which...
is the daily life or those underneath." E.T.

an older medieval tower. Remnants of an Etruscan tomb have been found within the castle walls. The castle was fortified by the della Scala family who ruled the region throughout the 13th century.
Other sights include the pieve of St. Stephen (8th century), the church of Santa Maria di Navene (11th century)
In 1786, Goethe was questioned by the local magistrate on suspicion of being a spy while drawing sketches of the castle. The German writer recalled the incident in his report about the Italian Journey.
Interesting the peal of 5 bells of the parish of Cassone and the windmill.
Behind Malcesine rises the 2218 metres high Monte Baldo. A cable car with rotating cabins takes passengers to 1750 metres above sea level. From there the highest point can be accessed by walking a few kilometres to the south along the ridge.
