Norway is not only a very popular holiday destination because of its breathtaking nature. It is also a paradise for fishing enthusiasts. Deep sea fishing in the North Sea, coastal fishing at the banks of the fjords, freshwater fishing at one of over thousand lakes or demanding salmon fishing in mountain rivers – there is something for every fishermen. And the abundance of fish almost guarantees a perfect fishing day.
At the coast where you are very likely to encounter coal fish, mackerel and cod fishing is mainly free of charge. This means simply “cast the fishing rod and off you go!” When angling in rivers and lakes in the mainland usually a local fishing fee applies. Information on fees and regulation can usually be obtained from the local tourist information or at fishing and sports shops.
