A unique holiday property: living in a fully renovated cave with a community pool

The caves date back to the Muslim era, who slept in the gypsum quarries. Later on, the caves were used by local farmers as a superior alternative to traditional housing. One of the advantages is the temperature control: no matter what the outside temperature, the caves loamy soil ensures a constant temperature of 19 degrees. Also they are heated by wood. The caves are fully renovated to be comfortable in the interior.

This kind of soil can be found in a 100 km perimeter around Baza. Here and only here, due to the sediments of a primeval lake, can these caves be converted to a living space.

The caves were recently renovated. The craftsmen only used natural materials while carrying out the renovations to ensure the traditional character remains. The original shapes inside and out were retained, as to preserve the ideal way the caves fit into the landscape, while offering the amenities of modern life.

The caves are surrounded by gardens with indigenous trees, patios and little areas where you can relax, integrated into the landscape, letting you escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. The community pool, as well as the outdoor furniture on the patios, is available for your enjoyment. There is space available to park on the property.

The caves are located lakeside to the Rio de Baza in the triangle of the highlands of the Granada province, the highlands of the Vega de Baza and the desert north of Granada. It is only 5 km on a tarmacked road to the centre of Baza. In town, you can find shops and restaurants.

Holiday house for six people

This cave accommodates up to six people on 95m2. The living room boasts an oven (wood is included), a comfortable sectional, a plasma TV and a stereo. The kitchen is furnished with a stove, an oven, a kettle, a toaster, a dishwasher and all necessary cooking utensils. The bathroom boasts a bathtub, a hairdryer, a bidet and two sinks. The cave offers three bedrooms: one is furnished with a double bed (1.50 m x 2.00 m) and the other two are furnished with two with two single beds (0.90 m x 2.00 m each).
