“Balestrate is a nice place by the sea. There are several shops, bars, restaurants and ice cream parlors. Not a typical tourist destination, but that's exactly what we did not want. In the vicinity there are many tourist hotspots. We were often on the beach and visited many of the countless attractions.”

“(Pebble / shell) Beach is just across the road with free sun beds because you stay there.
Immediate surroundings, I had expected more, but with a car you can manage fine.”

“For shopping in the supermarket you have to drive a bit, but that does not bother us. Balestrate around the market square is Sicilian Okay. Must not have seen. The beach is great. The water is warm. Trash seems to be simply thrown where you stand and walk. Waste separation no matter. There is no bottle deposit.”

The vibrant life pulsates in the streets of Balestrate. The bars offer the most delicious dolci, gelati and espressi. In the restaurants you can enjoy Sicilian cuisine, whether frutti di mare, pasta, pizza or meat and a vino di casa. If you enjoy cooking, you have the opportunity every day to buy fresh fish directly from the fishermen or fresh vegetables and fruits from the farmers. The friendliness and pleasant nature of its people make the tourists feel native. There is no mass tourism in Balestrate. find some lido's, but the biggest part of Balestrate's beaches have free access.

Along the corso, the Via Madonna del Ponte, you will find several bars where you can have a real Italian breakfast with a cornetto (a croissant filled with cream, marmalade or sweet ricotta cheese) and a cappuccino. You can also try homemade ice-cream in a bun, which is typical for the south part of Italy. If you'd like to give it a try you just order a brioche con gelato, you won't be disappointed! Most of the town's shops, cafés and super markets are located along or close to the corso. In the heart of Balestrate you will find the town square and the recently renovated church.

Balestrate is also a great holiday location thanks to its favorable geographic position. Located between Palermo and Trapani, it is easily reachable from the harbors and airports of these two cities. There are many direct and cheap flights available to Trapani or Palermo. Balestrate is also an excellent starting point for visiting all cultural attractions in the area, like the medieval town of Erice, the temple and amphitheatre of Segesta, the archeological park in Selinunte, the salt pans (saline) near Marsala, the cathedral of Monreale, Palermo, Castellammare del Golfo and many more!
